Read only the first sentence of a paragraph
只读每段的句话

Good writers begin each paragraph with a key statement that tells you what that paragraph is about. By reading only the first sentence, you can determine if the paragraph has information you need to know.

的作家在每段的开始都会用一个关键句来告诉你这段话讲的是什么。（所以）只读每段的句话，你就能确定这段话是否有你想要了解的信息。

If you're reading literature, this still applies, but know that if you skip the rest of the paragraph, you may miss details that enrich the story. When the language in literature is artful, I would choose to read every word.

如果你在阅读文献，这条技巧依然适用，但是要知道如果你跳过了这段话的剩余部分，你可能会遗漏丰富整个故事的一些细节。当文献中的措辞十分巧妙时，我会选择逐字逐句阅读。

Skip to the last sentence of the paragraph
直接跳到每段的后一句话

The last sentence in a paragraph should also contain clues for you about the importance of the material covered. The last sentence often serves two functions -- it wraps up the thought expressed and provides a connection to the nextparagraph.
 
段落中的后一句话应该也包含了一些能让你判断这段材料重要性的线索。后一句话通常有两个作用：总结前文的观点和连接下一段。

Read phrases
阅读短语

When you have skimmed first and last sentences and determined the whole paragraph is worth reading, you still don't need to read every word. Move your eyes quickly over each line and look for phrases and key words. Your mind will automatically fill in the words between.

当你粗略地阅读了首句和尾句，认为整段话都值得一读时，你依然不需要逐字阅读。快速扫行，寻找短语和关键词，你的大脑将自动反应出完整的句意。

Ignore the little words
忽略小词

Ignore the little words like it, to, a, an, and, be -- you know the ones. You don't need them. Your brain will see these little words without acknowledgment.

忽略像it, to, a, an, and, be这样的小词，你懂得。你并不需要它们，因为你的大脑不需要确认就能明白这些词。

Look for key points
寻找要点

Look for key points while you're reading for phrases. You are probably already aware of the key words in the subject you're studying. They pop out at you. Spend a little more time with the material around those key points.

当你在进行短语阅读时记得寻找要点。你也许已经意识到了里面的关键词，它们会突然出现。这时候你就要多花点时间阅读要点周围的文本。

Mark key thoughts in the margins
在页边标出重要的观点

I know you were taught not to write in your books, and some books should be kept pristine, but a textbook is for studying. If the book is yours, mark key thoughts in the margins. If it makes you feel better, use a pencil. Even better, buy a packet of those little sticky tabs and slap one on the page with a short note.

我知道你们都被告知不要在书本上写东西，有些书必须保持整洁，但教材是用来学习的。如果书是你的，就可以在页边标注出重要的观点。为了感觉好一些，你可以用铅笔，更好的办法是，买一小包记事贴，这样就可以把写有简短笔记的记事贴粘在书页上了。
